Semasa checked his wristwatch again and let out a frustrated sigh. If not that these people have paid me for my services, eh.. He thought, trying to control the beginning of an anger. He sat tentatively on the railings of the jetty, watching the group of youths walking carelessly towards the jetty. They were laughing as loudly as they could, obviously enjoying one another's company. Semasa raised his hand and motioned for them to hurry up.



Finally, they reached the jetty, the youths settled in the boat one after another and the journey back to the mainland began. Semasa's mind was on the date he had with his girlfriend while his passengers concentrated on talking about the fun they had at the beach. Suddenly, the engine went off..in the middle of the water. The speed boat moved forward a little and stopped. Shade, one of the passengers, frantically looked back at Semasa and shouted ''What happened?''.... _*cont'd*_
